ABURE IN CRISIS MODE: Top Leaders, Obidients Ditch Him
Professor Theophilus Ndubuaku, Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress Political Commission, has renewed his call for Julius Abure to step down as the chairman of the Labour Party. Ndubuaku asserts that Abure has been…ABURE IN CRISIS MODE: Top Leaders, Obidients Ditch Him
rejected by Peter Obi, Governor Alex Otti, the Obidient Movement, and even members of his own National Working Committee (NWC).
He argues that given the overwhelming lack of support from virtually every stakeholder within the Labour Party, Abure should no longer hold his position as chairman.
“Who stands with him? Isn’t he the one who established a national caretaker committee, declaring Abure’s tenure over? Otti’s rejection of Abure and the creation of a caretaker committee indicates that he no longer recognizes Abure as his chairman. Additionally, party leader Peter Obi does not accept Abure in that role. This committee was formed to help us progress. Abure has lost acceptance among the permanent members of the NEC and NWC, including the NLC and TUC. He is not accepted by anyone.
He isn’t even acknowledged by the grassroots movement known as the Obidient Movement. Moreover, the Organized Labour—the very group after which your party is named—has stated they no longer wish for you to be chairman.
Essentially, nearly every stakeholder is in agreement regarding this matter, and due to his actions, even elected officials in both national and state assemblies are abandoning the party under his leadership,” Ndubuaku stated in an interview with Punch.
ireporteronline reports that the NLC Political Commission’s Deputy President insists that with the clear signs pointing to his dismissal, Abure should resign immediately if he has any remaining integrity.
“I’m telling you, how can such a person, if they have any sense, still claim to be the chairman of the party? Who are the remaining members in the party he is leading? If you possess any integrity, wouldn’t you consider stepping down? Everyone is stating that you cannot continue as our chairman,” he remarked.
