Terror Camp Busted: Troops Eliminate Bandit, Seize Weapons In Taraba

The Nigerian Army has successfully dismantled a notorious bandit camp in Taraba State, leading to the neutralization of one bandit, the arrest of 23 others, and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

A statement released on Monday confirmed that the raid was carried out following credible intelligence on bandit movements in the region. Upon sighting the patrol team, the bandits opened fire, prompting an immediate and overwhelming response from the troops.

The ensuing firefight led to the elimination of one bandit, while 23 others—19 men and four women—surrendered without resistance.

Weapons and Equipment Seized

A thorough search of the bandit camp uncovered:

  • 4 AK-47 rifles
  • 5 AK-47 magazines
  • 80 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
  • 1 English-made pistol
  • 2 locally-made guns
  • 28 cutlasses
  • 16 motorcycles
  • 48 daggers and jack knives
