Adeboye Declares: God Has Decided Nigeria’s Next President

According to Ireporter Online, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has stated that Nigeria’s next president ahead of the 2027 general elections has already been determined by God.

Speaking on Saturday during a workers’ meeting at the Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye emphasized that the outcome of the forthcoming election is beyond human control, insisting that divine will would ultimately prevail.

“The next president has already been decided by God who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he said.

The cleric urged Nigerians not to be consumed by anxiety over political developments, noting that God remains sovereign over the nation’s future. He, however, clarified that his statement should not be interpreted as discouraging political participation.

“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,” Adeboye added, urging citizens to remain prayerful and peaceful as the 2027 elections approach.

He further encouraged Nigerians to continue seeking divine guidance while fulfilling their civic responsibilities, stating that trust in God remains essential amid rising political activity.

“We should do our part, but we should also keep on praying and trust God. That is what is satisfying to me,” he said.

Adeboye also addressed remarks attributed to activist Omoyele Sowore, who reportedly described him and other prominent clerics as “fathers of Christians in Nigeria.” He rejected the description, stating that he does not consider himself the father of all Christians in the country.

According to him, leadership of the Christian community in Nigeria is officially represented by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), whose president serves as the national voice of Christians.

“Sowore said that we are not the fathers of Christians but we are denominational fathers. He is very correct. I don’t want to be father of all Christians in Nigeria. I’m satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. That’s enough assignment for me,” he said.

Adeboye further reiterated that he has no ambition to be seen as a national Christian leader, adding that the CAN President holds that responsibility.

He also dismissed social media claims suggesting that RCCG is an extension of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the church has consistently spoken on national issues affecting Nigerians, including economic challenges.

The cleric noted that he would support peaceful civic actions if called upon by CAN leadership, adding that he had previously participated in protests during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Adeboye also maintained that while politicians are welcome at church programmes, they would not be allowed to use the altar for campaign activities or political speeches.
