ALGON BoT Warns Lagos LCDA Chairman Against Contempt Of Court

Mr. Shaban Shuaibu, the Chairman of ALGON BoT, conveyed the rejection of Alabi’s alleged actions during a press briefing held in Abuja.

Shuaibu accused Alabi of falsely assuming the position of National President of ALGON for the past four years and holding meetings with some local government council chairmen with the aim of legitimizing his continued stay in office or installing another individual unconstitutionally.

Highlighting the legal framework governing ALGON, Shuaibu emphasized that Bariga Development Area is not part of the 774 Local Governments as stipulated in the constitution.

He clarified that since Alabi’s assumption of the presidency, ALGON has been embroiled in various court cases, rendering any activities carried out by either party in the name of ALGON null and void until the final determination of the cases.

Shuaibu underscored the interim responsibility of the BoT to oversee the affairs of ALGON and conduct elections into leadership positions within the shortest period possible, as mandated by the ALGON constitution.

He informed that legal action had been initiated at the Federal High Court in Abuja to address the situation, with the court’s judgment awaited.

Shuaibu called upon law enforcement agencies, including the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, to intervene and restrain Alabi from further actions that could undermine the legal process.

The case, identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/1609/2023 and currently before Justice Inyang Ekwo, has been adjourned until April 30 for judgment.
