Alleged N6.9bn Fraud: Again, Emefiele’s Arraignment In Court Stalls (SEE WHY)

Emefiele

The scheduled Wednesday court appearance of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for his alleged involvement in a N6.9 billion procurement fraud, has once again been postponed.

The case was not included in the court docket of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Wednesday. No explanation was provided, and neither party’s lawyers were present in court.

Although Emefiele, the first defendant, was present in court last Thursday, the arraignment was halted because the second defendant, Sa’adatu Yaro, a female CBN employee, was reportedly unwell and absent.

Following a request for an adjournment, the presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, rescheduled the proceedings to August 23, 2023.
