Angry Mob Lynches Policemen After Fatal Accident Leading three To death In Edo
In a harrowing turn of events, two mobile policemen, serving as escorts to a former lawmaker in Edo State, met a brutal fate at the hands of an enraged mob following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of three individuals, including a woman, a student, and a motorcycle rider.
Sources reveal that the fatal incident unfolded in front of Ikpeshi Grammar School, where a Toyota Hilux Van, part of a convoy escorting Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje, collided with a motorcycle carrying the victims.
Witnesses recount the chaos that ensued as the aggrieved crowd descended upon the officers, mercilessly beating an inspector and a sergeant to death in retaliation for the lives lost in the accident.
The scene escalated further as the irate youths stormed the Edo State Security Volunteer Network office, where the officers sought refuge, unleashing further violence and claiming the lives of two more policemen while causing extensive damage to the facility.
Amidst the tragedy, law enforcement authorities have launched a vigorous pursuit of the perpetrators, vowing to bring them to justice and restore order to the community.
When reached for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, promising a comprehensive update as investigations progress.
Expressing outrage at the senseless violence, the chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Hon. Tajudeen Alade, denounced the brutality of the mob while commending the valiant efforts of the vigilante group in safeguarding the surviving officers.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, authorities remain committed to ensuring accountability and offering support to the affected families, underscoring the urgent need for peace and solidarity in the wake of such senseless violence.
