Lagos Commissioner’s Urgent Plea To Youths Amidst Hardship: Choose Development Over Crime
In a heartfelt call to action, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, implores the vibrant youth of the state to resist the allure of crime amidst challenging economic conditions, emphasizing the importance of self-development and resilience.
In an exclusive interview, Commissioner Ogunlende addressed the pressing issue of rising economic hardship, acknowledging the tough times faced by young individuals in the current climate. He underscored the proactive measures initiated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to alleviate the burdens of the populace, urging youths to capitalize on available opportunities rather than resorting to illicit activities.
“Crime, regardless of its guise, can never be a viable solution to hardship,” asserted Commissioner Ogunlende, empathizing with the struggles of the youth while urging patience and perseverance. He implored them to maintain diligence and integrity, emphasizing the significance of hard work and availing themselves of existing support systems such as the government’s palliative measures and the Cowry cards designed to facilitate ease of movement.
Addressing concerns about the surge in the presence of “area boys” on Lagos streets following the clearing of underbridges, Commissioner Ogunlende assured the public of proactive measures to ensure safety and security. Collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies, environmental authorities, and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the commissioner affirmed their commitment to addressing the situation effectively while prioritizing the welfare of all Lagosians.
In this clarion call, Commissioner Ogunlende echoes the collective resolve of Lagos State leadership to foster an environment conducive to growth, development, and prosperity, urging the youth to embrace hope, resilience, and lawful avenues for advancement even in the face of adversity.
