Taraba Politics: Kefas Urges APC Winners To Embrace Unity And Humility

According to Ireporter Online, the governor made the appeal during a reconciliation dinner held with APC stakeholders in Jalingo, where he described the event as a “family meeting” focused on rebuilding trust, healing divisions, and strengthening unity within the party.

Kefas urged party members to move beyond grievances linked to the recent congresses and primary elections, stressing the need for collective efforts as the APC prepares for future electoral challenges.

The governor acknowledged that the process surrounding his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, alongside the ward, local government, and state congresses as well as the primaries, generated different reactions among party members.

He noted that while some stakeholders were pleased with the outcomes, others felt disappointed or left out of the political process. Kefas expressed regret over any pain or misunderstanding caused, insisting that his actions were not aimed at undermining anyone’s political ambitions or contributions to the party.

The governor explained that the decisions taken during the political process were intended to prevent prolonged internal disagreements that could weaken the party and create divisions among the people of Taraba State.

He emphasized that reconciliation must now take priority over political differences, adding that electoral contests should not turn former allies into permanent rivals or damage long-standing relationships.

“No candidate can succeed alone,” Kefas said, encouraging successful aspirants to work with all stakeholders regardless of the outcome of the primaries.

He also appealed to those who lost out in the party’s selection process to remain committed to the APC, assuring them that political opportunities are not limited to a single election cycle.
