Speaking to journalists in Osogbo, Oyintiloye expressed concerns over the current pump price of diesel at the refinery, which stands at N1,225 per litre. He argued that this price is exorbitant considering the refinery’s status as a local producer.

Oyintiloye emphasized the expectation that diesel produced domestically should be significantly cheaper than imported counterparts. He referenced claims by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) regarding the landing cost of diesel, which is around N1,250 per litre due to recent appreciation of the naira against the dollar.

Asserting the need for presidential intervention to adjust pricing at the Dangote Refinery, Oyintiloye stressed the importance of passing on the benefits of local production to Nigerian consumers. He highlighted that since the product is produced locally without importation costs, the price should reflect this advantage.

Oyintiloye’s call for a review of diesel prices aligns with broader economic objectives and aims to ensure that the benefits of local production are passed on to Nigerian consumers for their welfare.
