APC Dominates Cross River Elections, Claims All 18 Chairmanship Seats

Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), during a press briefing at the commission’s headquarters in Calabar on Sunday.

The APC achieved success in all local government areas, including major councils like Abi, Odukpani, Bakassi, and Calabar South. Following the announcement, the winners were presented with Certificates of Return.

In a statement congratulating the newly elected officials, Governor Bassey Otu characterized the elections as peaceful and praised the electorate for their conduct. He expressed confidence that the new chairpersons would work in alignment with the state government’s vision and focus on good governance.

“We have a clear vision for the state, and we trust that the new local government leadership will support our agenda and be committed to delivering quality governance to the people,” stated Governor Otu.

While nine opposition parties, including the PDP and Labour Party, participated in the elections, many did not present candidates for all 196 council wards, allowing several APC candidates to run unopposed.
