APC Fires Back at ADC Coalition: “You Spoke Only of Desperation for Power, Not Purpose”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticised the newly formed opposition coalition using the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, saying the alliance led by Senator David Mark lacked genuine purpose and was driven purely by thirst for power.

In a statement on Thursday, APC spokesman Felix Morka dismissed the coalition as a roll call of “me‑or‑nothing politicians” more motivated by personal ambition than national interest. He said:

“From beginning to end, Senator Mark said nothing about the purpose of the so‑called coalition other than a loud declaration of desperation for power”

Morka questioned the coalition’s vision and values, asserting that its leaders “equate their selfish interest with the interest of Nigerians” and are cloaked in a “record of betrayal of public trust.” He argued the group offered no alternative policy or clear ideology to challenge President Tinubu’s administration

This criticism echoes earlier comments from other APC members who labelled the ADC alliance “self‑obsessed merchants of vendetta” and a gathering of “deceivers” lacking coherent direction.

APC further emphasised that the coalition emerged not from democratic vision but out of failed politicians seeking to regain relevance. Morka added that it was unsurprising the interim chairman’s remarks contained “no substance or purpose.”

This pushback intensifies the political battle as both sides prepare for the 2027 presidential election, highlighting deep divisions on what constitutes a credible opposition: a coherent ideological platform or a conglomerate united by opportunism.
