APC Rolls Out Timetable For By-Elections, Pegs Senate Form At N20m

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its timetable and schedule of activities for the February 3, 2024 by-elections.

The released APC timetable, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaimon Argungu, outlines that the sale of nominations, expression of interest, and delegates forms for Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assemblies seats will commence on December 27, 2023, concluding on January 2, 2024. Primary elections are scheduled for January 6, 2024.

The APC has set the cost of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at N20 million, N10 million, and N2 million for Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly positions, respectively. Female aspirants and persons with disabilities will pay for Expression of Interest, while the Nomination Form is free for them.

Additionally, youths aged 25 to 40 years will purchase Expression of Interest forms with a 50% discount on Nomination Forms, as stated by the APC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed February 3, 2024, for the conduct of by-elections to fill vacancies resulting from the resignation or demise of members of the National and State Houses of Assembly. These vacancies span two Senatorial Districts, four Federal Constituencies, and three State Constituencies, covering nine states across the country.
