APC Sets Stage For Edo Governorship Race With Screening, Appeal Committees Inauguration

The ceremony, conducted at the APC’s national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, witnessed the swearing-in of the committee members, officiated by the National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Arugungu. Notably absent were the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

Led by former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, Prof Taoheed Adedoja, as Chairman, and Dr. Sani Danjuma as Secretary, the committee comprises esteemed figures such as Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe and Adeoye Adelakum, among others.

Simultaneously, a five-man screening appeal committee, chaired by Senator Ibrahim Danbaba and Smart Iheazor as secretary, was also inaugurated.

Speaking to the press, Arugungu emphasized the constitutional mandate of screening aspirants before primaries, ensuring fairness and equity. He expressed confidence in the integrity of the committee members, highlighting their political prowess and principled values.

Arugungu assured stakeholders of a smooth and transparent process, underscoring the meticulous selection of committee members and the provision of a dedicated secretariat support team.

The inauguration follows the party’s clearance of 12 aspirants for the screening process, setting the stage for a highly anticipated gubernatorial race in Edo State.
