In a letter dated March 31st, signed by Ali Maishago and Zakkah Bassahuwa, the APC chairman and secretary of Badarawa/Malali ward respectively, Suleiman was accused of gross misconduct, including defamation of Governor Uba Sani’s character and unauthorized publicity of party disputes that undermined the governor.
Additionally, Suleiman faced allegations of orchestrating attacks against the political adviser to the governor, Manzo Maigari. The party cited violations of Article 21, 2 (v) of the APC constitution as grounds for her suspension, which will remain in effect indefinitely pending a thorough investigation into the allegations.
The suspension follows a widely circulated video in which Suleiman criticized Governor Sani’s remarks regarding the debt burden inherited from the previous administration led by former governor Nasir El-Rufai. Governor Sani had disclosed significant debts amounting to $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities during a town hall meeting, attributing financial challenges such as salary payment delays to these debts.
Suleiman’s criticism of Governor Sani’s administration in the video, shared on social media, sparked controversy, with the APC citing her actions as detrimental to party unity and discipline.
The suspension underscores the internal tensions within the Kaduna APC, highlighting the challenges faced by the party in managing dissent and maintaining cohesion amidst political differences.
