Arewa Group Criticizes Zamfara Governor For Alleged Neglect Of Security
The Arewa Youth for Peace and Security has strongly criticized Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, accusing him of neglecting security concerns within the state. The condemnation comes in the wake of social media reports alleging that the former governor and current Minister of Defence for State, Bello Matawalle, distributed provisions to the Ado Aliero-led bandits operating in Zamfara……READ ALSO Arewa Group Demands Reinstatement Of Senator Ningi, Threatens Action
In a statement signed by its President, Abubakar Hassan Kankia, the group lambasted Governor Lawal for purportedly exploiting insecurity issues during Matawalle’s tenure to gain political mileage, only to falter in addressing the prevailing security challenges after assuming office.
The statement highlighted Lawal’s alleged failure to fulfill promises made to the electorate regarding security restoration within the first 100 days of his administration. Instead, the group asserts, Lawal has been preoccupied with globetrotting, neglecting his constitutional duties of ensuring security and delivering essential services to the citizens of Zamfara.
The Arewa Youth for Peace and Security expressed dismay over what they perceive as Lawal’s administration contributing to the exacerbation of insecurity in Zamfara State. They cited instances where bandits openly praised the governor, suggesting that the state has become a sanctuary for criminal elements under his leadership.
The group concluded by accusing Lawal of squandering public resources on frivolous pursuits and propagating false narratives against Matawalle as a means to deflect attention from his administration’s shortcomings. They assert that Lawal’s alleged incompetence has emboldened criminals, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of Zamfara residents.
In light of these concerns, the Arewa Youth for Peace and Security called for urgent action to address the deteriorating security situation in Zamfara State and hold Governor Lawal accountable for his perceived failures in governance.
