In a statement issued in Jos and signed by the group’s Chairman, Alhassan Sabo, and Secretary, Susan Ogbaji, the group expressed dissatisfaction with the Senate’s decision to suspend Senator Ningi for three months. They believe that the suspension is unjust, especially considering the serious allegations made by Senator Ningi regarding budget padding in the National Assembly.
The group called for a thorough investigation into the allegations and urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to establish an independent panel for this purpose. They emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in political matters, stating that Senator Ningi has been a vocal advocate for the Nigerian masses.
The statement also criticized the Senate leadership for hastily suspending Senator Ningi, suggesting that there may be more to the situation than meets the eye. They described Senator Ningi as a hero of democracy and called on the Senate to lift his suspension immediately.
If their demands are not met, the Arewa Advancement for Peace and Development Initiative threatened to mobilize citizens from the northern states and civil society organizations to protest at the National Assembly. They reiterated their commitment to defending the interests of the Nigerian people and ensuring that justice prevails.
