Arewa Group Slams Governor Lawal, Accuses Him Of Neglecting Security Responsibilities
A Northern-based organization known as the Arewa Youth for Peace and Security has strongly criticized Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, accusing him of neglecting security concerns within the state. The group’s accusation comes amidst swirling reports on social media alleging that Bello Matawalle, the former governor of Zamfara State and current Minister of State for Defence, distributed food items to the Ado Aliero-led bandits, who have been causing havoc among residents….READ ALSO Arewa Group Demands Reinstatement Of Senator Ningi, Threatens Action
In a statement attributed to its president, Abubakar Hassan Kankia, the group asserted that Governor Lawal capitalized on the insecurity prevalent during Matawalle’s tenure to gain political mileage, but has since failed to fulfill his promises to the people. They alleged that Lawal now resorts to spreading false narratives against Matawalle in an attempt to salvage his administration’s reputation.
According to the group, Lawal’s leadership has been marred by confusion and incompetence, contributing to the escalation of insecurity in Zamfara State. They criticized his lack of decisive action and accused him of prioritizing personal interests over the welfare of the citizens.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted the bandits’ audacious praise of Lawal, indicating that Zamfara has become a safe haven for criminals under his administration’s watch.
The Arewa Youth for Peace and Security concluded by expressing concern over the impunity with which terrorists operate in the state and called for urgent measures to address the security challenges plaguing Zamfara.
