The Nigerian currency continued to trade at varying rates across the foreign exchange market, with the United States dollar exchanging for ₦1,410 at the parallel market on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Market sources familiar with Bureau De Change (BDC) transactions disclosed that the dollar was bought at ₦1,395 and sold at ₦1,410 in the Lagos parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market.

Meanwhile, the official foreign exchange market recorded lower rates, with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) exchange rate ranging between a high of ₦1,373 and a low of ₦1,369 per dollar.

The CBN has consistently maintained that it does not recognize the parallel market for foreign exchange transactions, urging individuals and businesses seeking forex to conduct such transactions through authorized financial institutions and commercial banks.

Foreign exchange traders also noted that rates may vary across locations and dealers, meaning the prices at which individuals buy or sell dollars could differ from prevailing market quotations.
