The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially presented retired civil servant Bolakale Kawu as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election, alongside the Presiding Pastor of Oasis of Wisdom Bible Church, Ilorin, Cornelius Fawenu, who will serve as his running mate.

According to Ireporter Online, the unveiling ceremony took place on Friday at the party’s state secretariat in Ilorin and attracted party leaders, stakeholders, members and supporters from different parts of the state.

Speaking during the event, the state PDP Chairman, Isa Adamu, described the unveiling as a significant milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election. He explained that Fawenu emerged as Kawu’s running mate after extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across Kwara State, as well as a thorough selection process involving four qualified nominees.

Adamu stated that Fawenu’s emergence reflected the party’s commitment to competence, integrity and selfless service. He also praised the cleric for withdrawing from the contest for the Kwara South Senatorial ticket in the interest of the party, describing the move as a demonstration of loyalty, discipline and exemplary leadership.

He outlined the party’s priorities to include improved security, economic development, quality education, youth and women empowerment, agricultural advancement and transparent governance.
