APC Submits National Assembly Candidates’ Names To INEC Portal

According to Ireporter Online, the development came after the conclusion of internal primaries and the resolution of appeals, which led to the ratification of candidates across various constituencies.

Some of the affected candidates confirmed receiving Form EC9 from INEC on Monday night, signaling the formal processing of their nominations.

In the House of Representatives category, returning lawmakers such as Donald Ojogo (Ilaje-Ese Odo) and Festus Adefiranye (Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo) expressed appreciation to the party for endorsing their candidacies for re-election.

For the Senate, notable names on the approved list include Senator Sunday Karimi (Kogi West), Prince Paul Ikonne (Abia South), Senator Emmanuel Udende (Benue Northeast), Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Central), Senator Titus Tartenger (Benue Northwest), and Senator Olajide Ipinsagba (Ondo North), among others.

The House of Representatives list also features John Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele), Abdulazeez Kaka (Kaduna North), Chief Samuel Okezie (Ukwa East/Ukwa West), Ekumankama Nkama (Afikpo North/Edda), Abubakar Abdullahi (Suleja/Tafa/Mokwa), and Festus Olarewaju (Idanre/Ifedore).

Others include Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, Mohammed Mamman, and Raheem Olawuyi, who were cleared across various federal constituencies.

In a letter dated June 29 and titled “Forwarding of Approved List of Senatorial and House of Representatives Candidates,” signed by APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, the party confirmed that the list was drawn from the reports of its Primary Appeal Committees.

The letter stated that the reports were reviewed and approved by the National Working Committee as the party’s final position on all affected constituencies, in line with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.

Meanwhile, APC candidates in Oyo State also received their nomination documents in Abuja, including Forms EC13D and EC9.

Among them are Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), Hon. Remi Oseni (Oyo South), and Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan (Oyo North), alongside several House of Representatives candidates from constituencies across the state.

Party officials noted that the primaries in Oyo State were adjudged free and fair, with congratulations extended to all successful candidates ahead of the general elections.

However, tensions persisted in Ondo State as some aggrieved aspirants staged protests, alleging irregularities and calling on the party leadership to address perceived injustices in the nomination process.
