2027: Tinubu Has No Rival, Opposition In Tatters – Orji Uzor Kalu
According to Ireporter Online, the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu faces no significant challenger ahead of the 2027 presidential election, insisting that opposition parties are currently too divided and disorganised to pose any meaningful threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kalu made the remarks in his hometown, Igbere, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, during a stakeholders’ meeting involving members of his political structures, the OUK Movement and Reality Organisation, as well as APC stakeholders in the state.
The former Abia State governor maintained that opposition parties were still struggling with internal crises and lacked the unity required to compete effectively in the next general election. He expressed confidence that the APC remained firmly positioned for victory.
“I can assure you, just like President Tinubu has no competitor in 2027, APC as a party has no challenge. The opposition in the country is in tatters; they are yet to put their houses in order and do not have the capacity to challenge APC,” he said.
Kalu also defended the economic direction of the Tinubu administration, describing the President as a decisive leader who is unafraid of making tough but necessary policy decisions in the national interest.
“Tinubu is what a good leader should be; he is not afraid of taking decisions. He is taking hard decisions for the interest of the country,” he stated.
While acknowledging that the administration’s economic reforms have yet to fully achieve their intended outcomes, he argued that measurable progress is being made. According to him, improvements are being recorded in the broader economy despite ongoing challenges at the micro level.
“The President’s economic policies may not have taken Nigeria to where it should be, but we are getting there. It is true we are still battling with the micro economy, but the macro economy is doing well,” he added.
On his legislative performance, Kalu said he remains committed to representing the interests of Abia North and insisted he would accept the will of his constituents if they decide otherwise. He further claimed that no other senatorial district has attracted more federal projects than Abia North under his representation, citing road rehabilitation, school reconstruction, and distribution of educational materials.
He expressed optimism about returning to the Senate, stressing that the APC remains strong and well-rooted in Abia State, while also predicting victory for President Tinubu in the state during the 2027 elections.
Kalu, however, urged party leaders in Abia to manage internal affairs with fairness and inclusiveness in order to prevent factional disputes. He noted that the stakeholders’ engagement was part of broader efforts to strengthen unity within the party ahead of the polls.
Also speaking at the event, former APC governorship aspirant Mascot Uzor Kalu called on party members to remain united and work collectively towards securing victory in 2027. He said he stepped down from the party’s governorship primary in the interest of peace and cohesion within the APC.
Other stakeholders, including George Nnanna Kalu and Uche Ogboso, commended Senator Kalu for what they described as effective representation and pledged continued support for his re-election bid.
