Reports indicate that the gunmen stormed the senator’s residence in the early hours of Monday, February 12. Although Senator Ndubueze managed to escape unharmed, one of his dedicated police officers lost his life in the gunfire exchange.

“The news of Senator Patrick Ndubueze being attacked is true,” said a resident of Umualumoke, where the incident occurred. “They stormed his residence and killed a policeman working for him. It could be the same set of hoodlums that also ambushed the Correctional Service in Okigwe.”

Describing the heightened sense of insecurity in the region, the resident expressed concerns over the escalating violence and the apparent inadequacy of security measures.

Senator Patrick Ndubueze, an APC senator elected in the February 25, 2023, National Assembly elections, faces a concerning breach of security in his own home.

In response to the incident, the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the attack and stated that the state commissioner of police, Aboki Danjuma, has initiated a tactical team to pursue the assailants and bring them to justice.
