Bandits Claim Lives Of 24 In Fresh Attack On Katsina Community

Tragedy struck Unguwar Sarkin Noma, a community in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, as bandits launched a deadly assault resulting in the loss of at least twenty-four lives and numerous injuries. The attack, which spanned approximately an hour on Thursday night, targeted four villages—Unguwar Sarkin Noma, Gangara, Tafi, and Kore—with bandits indiscriminately firing shots to instill fear among residents. Despite efforts to notify security agencies and their prompt response, the bandits executed their mission, leaving devastation in their wake.

Chairman Faruq Dalhatu confirmed that 23 victims were laid to rest according to Islamic customs, with the final victim also interred after succumbing to injuries. Sabuwa Local Government Council mobilized security agencies upon learning of the impending attack, but the bandits’ assault claimed lives before effective intervention could be implemented.

Sabuwa, among the eight most vulnerable security frontline Local Government Areas in Katsina State, continues to grapple with escalating bandit activities, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect communities from further harm. As investigations continue, the state police command is yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack, leaving residents anxious and apprehensive about their safety in the face of persistent threats.
