Fintiri gave this commendation while inaugurating a new Commissioners’ Quarters and a dual carriage road in New Yenagoa City as part of Diri’s fifth-anniversary celebrations.
He acknowledged that Diri’s commitment to infrastructure demonstrates his dedication to the welfare of Bayelsa residents. He further emphasized that any leader who prioritizes development serves the greatest good of the people.
According to Fintiri, Diri has built a strong reputation both within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and across the country for his transformative leadership. He noted that Yenagoa has undergone remarkable changes under Diri’s administration, reflecting his vision and dedication to progress.
Governor Diri, in his response, expressed gratitude to the host communities of Onopa and Amarata for their peaceful cooperation, which facilitated the smooth execution of the projects. He highlighted the importance of proper urban planning for sustainable growth and directed Lubrik Construction Company to extend the road to link the Tombia airport road for improved accessibility by the end of the year.
Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Perepuighe Biewari, described the newly completed housing project as a significant step towards infrastructure and economic development in the state. The project, which includes 40 five-bedroom duplexes, was approved in 2021 and construction commenced in February 2022.
Similarly, Works and Infrastructure Commissioner, Moses Teibowei, stated that the New Yenagoa City development aims to enhance housing infrastructure with modern amenities such as solar-powered lighting, public water supply, security posts, playgrounds, and shopping centers. He added that the newly constructed 2.1km dual carriageway would facilitate smoother transportation, boost aesthetics, and improve security operations, ultimately driving economic growth in Bayelsa.
