Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, praised the troops’ bravery and urged them to sustain their momentum against terrorism. The attackers, equipped with gun trucks, motorcycles, and Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs), were met with a coordinated response from the 101 Special Forces Battalion, supported by airstrikes and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Recovered items included multiple firearms, anti-aircraft weapons, heavy machine guns, motorcycles, and ammunition. Four VBIEDs were destroyed during the engagement.

The statement noted ongoing operations to secure the area, including house-to-house searches, and reassured the public of the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in the Northeast and restoring socio-economic stability.
