BREAKING: Appeal Court Sacks 11 PDP Lawmakers (FULL LIST)

On Friday, the Abuja-based Court of Appeal unanimously removed 11 lawmakers affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Plateau State Assembly.

Presided over by Justice Okon Abang, the panel asserted that the ousted legislators had garnered invalid votes during the March 2023 general election due to the absence of a cohesive party structure.

Justice Abang further emphasized that the PDP’s actions contravened Section 177 of the 1999 constitution, rendering it ineligible to field candidates in the election. Consequently, the court proclaimed the second runners-up in the March 18 elections as the rightful winners.

The affected lawmakers, now ousted, include Hon. Timothy Dantong (Riyom), Hon. Rimyat Nanbol (Langtang North Central), Moses Sule (Mikang), Salome Waklek (Pankshin), Hon. Bala Fwangji (Mangu South), Hon. Maren Ishaku (Bokkos), Hon. Dagogot (Quaanpan North), and Nannim Langyi (Langtang North North).

Additionally, Nimchak Rims (Langtang South), Hon. Danjuma Azi (Jos North West), Gwottson Fom (Jos South), and Hon. Abubakar Sani Idris (Mangu North) were also removed from their positions.

This legal development has shifted the political landscape, propelling the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the forefront as the predominant party in the parliamentary proceedings.
