BREAKING: Bashir Gets Fresh Appointment (DETAILS)
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has appointed Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, the Wazirin Dutse, as the Chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT). This appointment was made during the forum’s meeting held in Kaduna on Tuesday, following the passing of Ambassador Shehu Malami Sarkin Sudan several months ago.
Born in Dutse, which is now part of Jigawa State, on November 12, 1949, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu attended Rumfa College in Kano from 1963 to 1967. In 1972, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and was called to the bar in 1973. He later pursued further legal studies in London.

Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu served in various government ministries in Kano State, including the Ministry of Works and Survey and the Ministry of Agriculture, before becoming a state counsel in the Ministry of Justice. Subsequently, he founded a private legal practice, B. M. Dalhatu & Co., in Kano.
Meanwhile, Mr. Gabriel Aduku and Alhaji Murtala Aliyu have officially assumed office as the Chairman and Secretary of the National Executive Council of the ACF, respectively, after being ratified by the selection committee and the BoT. Aduku took over from Chief Audu Ogbeh, while Aliyu was reappointed as secretary for another three years.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu expressed gratitude to God and the members of the ACF for their support. He pledged to utilize his and other executive members’ capacities for the progress of the ACF.
Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu also acknowledged the socio-economic challenges faced by the North and stated that as men of courage, they would prioritize the region’s interests and work towards achieving unity with the rest of the country during their tenure.
Other members elected into positions on the National Working Committee (NWC) include Sen. Ibrahim Ida as Deputy Chairman for the Northwest, Alhaji Muhammed Kari as Vice Chairman for the Northeast, Alhaji Ibrahim Moriki as Deputy Secretary-General for the Northwest, and Achanna Yaro from Gombe State as Legal Adviser for the Northeast, among others.
