BREAKING: Court Orders Immediate Release Of Bazoum

The ECOWAS court has ordered the immediate and unconditional release of Niger’s ousted president, Mohamed Bazoum, who has been detained since the July 26 coup.

The court, based in Nigeria’s capital Abuja, further instructed that Bazoum be reinstated as president.

The ruling declared, “It is Mohamed Bazoum who represents the state of Niger… he remains president of the republic,” emphasizing that constitutional rights had been violated.

Since his overthrow, Bazoum, along with his wife and their son, has been held in his presidential residence.

In September, the deposed president sought relief from the ECOWAS Court of Justice, seeking his release and the reinstatement of constitutional order in Niger.
