BREAKING: Fubara Takes Another Strong Action On Wike After Demolishing Rivers Assembly Complex

Wike and Fubara

Amidst the ongoing crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly, marked by an impeachment plot against him, Governor Siminalayi Fubara extended congratulations to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, on his 56th birthday anniversary.

Despite the tumultuous situation in the oil-rich South-South region and the existing discord with his predecessor, Fubara referred to Wike as his “Oga.”

“Your Excellency, my dear wife and I, and the good people of Rivers State, join your family and friends to facilitate you on this day,” the governor said in a birthday post on his verified account on X (formerly Twitter).

In the midst of heightened security, the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex was demolished on Wednesday, approximately two months after a fire incident ravaged the building.

The demolition commenced around 6:45 am, with Governor Siminalayi Fubara leading a convoy, including about 10 bulldozers transported on heavy-duty flatbed lorries, into the Assembly premises. Concurrently, the governor presented the N800 billion 2024 budget estimates to the Edison Ehie-led group. This coincided with the ongoing demolition.

Edison Ehie had been legally recognized as the Speaker of the House by the court, and the court had restrained Martins Amaewhule from portraying himself as the speaker.

During the budget presentation at the Government House, members of the House loyal to Ehie were in attendance, while none of the members who recently switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) were present.

The crisis within the 32-member Assembly stemmed from a feud between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
