Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has terminated the appointment of Aigbodion Ewanifo Smart as Acting Managing Director of New Edo Line Limited and appointed Engr. Paul F. Ogedegbe as his replacement.
The decision was announced in a special statement issued on Monday, October 19, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
According to the announcement, Smart’s removal followed concerns over what the state government described as managerial inefficiency in the administration of the state-owned transport company. However, the government did not provide specific details of the alleged management shortcomings.
Following Smart’s removal, Governor Okpebholo approved Ogedegbe’s appointment as the new managing director, placing him in charge of the company’s leadership and operations.
The appointment marks a change in the management of New Edo Line Limited as the state government moves to address concerns surrounding the company’s administration.
However, the announcement did not specify when Ogedegbe would officially assume office or outline any immediate changes planned for the transport company’s operations.
The state government has yet to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding Smart’s removal or the priorities expected of the newly appointed managing director.
