Breaking: Otukpo University Pro-Chancellor Removed For Violating Procedures

allegations of conduct “unbecoming of his office” and violations of established procedures.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folashade Boriowo.

According to the statement, Salami’s actions, including the suspension of the university’s Vice-Chancellor without following due process, led to his dismissal. The ministry also accused Salami of displaying “abusive and threatening behavior” towards ministry officials, including the Permanent Secretary.

Dr. Alausa stressed the need for professionalism and adherence to due process in university governance, warning that such misconduct undermines institutional integrity.

“The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, observed that such behavior disrupts the ministry’s oversight function and jeopardizes the university’s stability and governance,” the statement read.

In response, the minister has called for the appointment of a new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council to restore stability and ensure the university operates under the principles of law, accountability, and due process.
