During the session, 84 out of 107 serving senators signed in support of his removal, marking a decisive action against the embattled CCT chairman.
The Senate based its decision on Section 157(1) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the legislative body to remove the head of any statutory agency accused of gross misconduct or misdemeanor, provided two-thirds of its members approve.
