BREAKING: US Navy Intercepts Three Missiles Fired From Yemen ‘Potentially’ At Israel (DETAILS)
In the Red Sea on Thursday, a US Navy ship intercepted three “land-attack cruise missiles and several drones” that were fired by Iran-backed Huthi rebels in Yemen.
The ship involved was the USS Carney. The attack was potentially targeted at Israel, as stated by Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder.
The missiles were fired from Yemen, where the Huthi rebels, supported by Iran, are in conflict with a government backed by a Saudi-led coalition.

Fortunately, there were no US casualties, and the intercepted missiles likely fell into open water. The US response was a defensive measure to neutralize the threat.
This incident occurred within the context of increased US military presence in the region, ordered by President Joe Biden to stabilize the situation following the conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group in Gaza.
“We cannot say for certain what these missiles were targeting, but they were launched from Yemen, heading north along the Red Sea.”
“Our defensive response was one we would have taken for any similar threat in the region,” he said.
“We have the capability to defend our broader interests in the region and to deter regional escalation and broader expansion of the conflict that began with Hamas’ attack on Israeli civilians.”
President Biden has directed the deployment of increased air and naval resources, including the dispatch of two aircraft carriers, to the Middle East.
This move aims to prevent the Israel-Hamas conflict from spreading further in the volatile region. Additionally, on Tuesday, the Pentagon ordered 2,000 personnel to be on standby for potential deployment.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin emphasized that this deployment will enhance the United States’ ability to respond swiftly to the crisis.
The White House clarified that it does not intend to deploy US combat forces on the ground. Reports from US media suggest that the troops being prepared for deployment will primarily serve in support roles, such as providing medical assistance and handling explosives.
President Biden made a significant show of support for Israel by visiting the country this week. He was scheduled to address Congress from the White House on Thursday, urging them to allocate funding for military support to both Israel and another beleaguered US ally, Ukraine.
When questioned by journalists on Wednesday about reports suggesting that his administration had assured Israel that US forces would fight alongside Israeli troops in the event of an attack by the powerful Lebanese movement Hezbollah against Israel, Biden stated that this information was not accurate.
However, he mentioned that discussions were ongoing between the US military and their Israeli counterparts regarding potential alternatives in the event of a Hezbollah attack.
