BREAKING: What We Will Do In ‘Full Force’ On November 1 – NLC Makes Vow
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has announced plans to mobilize its members for a protest in Imo State on Wednesday, November 1.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Labour House in Abuja on Sunday, NLC President Joe Ajaero accused the Imo State Government of infringing on the rights of Nigerian workers in the state.

Ajaero lamented that many workers have lost their lives due to the alleged non-payment of salaries, attributing this to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s purported neglect of workers’ welfare.
He outlined several grievances against the Imo State Governor, including the reported failure to implement previous agreements, particularly the one reached on January 9, 2021. Other issues raised included outstanding salary arrears spanning approximately 20 months, the unjust classification of workers as ghost employees, the wrongful labeling of pensioners as ghost beneficiaries, and unresolved gratuity arrears, among other concerns.
Ajaero disclosed that an estimated 10,000 pensioners have been erroneously categorized as ghost beneficiaries, leading to over 22 months of unpaid pensions. Additionally, around 11,000 workers have been falsely labeled as ghost employees by the Imo State Government.
Furthermore, the NLC President expressed dismay over the state government’s non-compliance with the national minimum wage, and criticized Governor Uzodinma for allegedly resisting the use of social dialogue and collective bargaining to address these issues.
