Breaking: Youths Protest In Benue Community Following Herdsmen-Attack (Videos)

Suspected herdsmen attacked the Antsa community on Monday morning, resulting in injuries to ten individuals. Antsa, located on the busy North Bank road in Benue State, is adjacent to J.S Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

In response to the attack, community youth began blocking the University Community road as early as 7 a.m., disrupting travel for those heading to Gbajimba in the Guma Local Government Area. The blockade, which has been maintained throughout the day, is a protest demanding that authorities address the security concerns in the region. The youth have vowed to continue their blockade until these issues are resolved, preventing the passage of vehicles and motorcycles.

In a related incident, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen militia attacked members of the Benue State House of Assembly on Thursday night. The assault took place around 10 p.m. along Kilometer 16 on the Makurdi/Gboko Road. The Assembly members were reportedly returning from a public hearing in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area when they were ambushed.

Hon. Elias Audu, Chairman of the House Committee on Information and Orientation, confirmed the incident. This series of attacks highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by residents and officials in Benue State.
