Bwala Criticizes Ndume Legislative Record Praises Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Performance
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has strongly criticized Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume of Borno South, claiming that his 22-year legislative tenure pales in comparison to the accomplishments of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who has served for less than two years…READ MORE…
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Bwala stated that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s achievements in the Senate have already surpassed those of Ndume’s decades-long career. He alleged that despite serving four years in the House of Representatives and approximately 18 years in the Senate, Ndume has never successfully passed a bill.
He dismissed Ndume’s claim of sponsoring the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) bill, stating that it was actually introduced by Senator Murtala Nyako. “Most of Ndume’s bills don’t even reach the second reading. They are often dismissed outright,” Bwala said.
Bwala also criticized Ndume’s efforts toward addressing the plight of his constituents. “Over 120,000 of his people are still living as internally displaced persons in Cameroon. Despite huge allocations for constituency projects in Southern Borno, there’s little to show on the ground,” he said, adding that even the boreholes Ndume claimed to have drilled were non-functional.
In response to a remark by the show’s host, Seun Okinbaloye, who noted that Ndume had visited his constituency, Bwala retorted, “Visiting people is not a project. The funds were meant for actual infrastructure and development.”
He further alleged that Ndume has historically relied on political connections rather than popular support to retain his seat, claiming that he has never won a primary election and often leans on state governors for political survival. “He was even stoned in his hometown in 2023,” Bwala said.
Bwala emphasized that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has already delivered more impactful representation for her constituents in a short time than Ndume has managed in over two decades. “Let him come forward and show us tangible results of his service. Even the House of Representatives members from his constituency have outperformed him,” he concluded.
