describing the move as a reflection of the President’s rare leadership qualities.
In a statement released in Abuja, Ndume applauded President Tinubu’s decision to appoint Bwala, emphasizing that the selection highlights the President’s dedication to inclusivity and his magnanimity in leadership.
“I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Daniel Bwala as his Special Adviser on Public Communication and Media. This is a remarkable gesture, particularly given Bwala’s significant role in recent events,” Ndume stated.
Ndume, who represents Bwala’s home state of Borno, noted that the President demonstrated a “large heart” with his appointment, underscoring his deep commitment to Nigeria’s collective welfare. He also encouraged Bwala to collaborate with other colleagues to advance President Tinubu’s policies and programs.
Bwala, a former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential campaign, had been vocal in his criticism of Tinubu and the APC in the past. Despite this, Ndume believes the President’s decision showcases “a rare example of magnanimity in leadership, a quality that is increasingly rare in today’s political climate.”
Ndume also advised Bwala to seek reconciliation with Vice President Kashim Shettima, whose appointment had led to Bwala’s departure from the APC over religious differences.
“I urge you to work closely with Vice President Shettima, your second principal, in promoting the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu,” Ndume said.
Furthermore, Ndume recommended that Bwala take inspiration from loyal associates of the President, like Sunday Dare and Onanuga, who advocate for Tinubu’s policies without resorting to divisive language.
“You should follow the example of figures like Hadiza Bala and Nuhu Ribadu, who defend and promote Tinubu’s policies with solid facts and figures,” Ndume concluded.
