Challenging The Messiah Mentality: Tinubu’s Aide Urges Nigerians To Rethink Expectations
Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, has called for a shift in mindset among Nigerians, emphasizing that one individual cannot single-handedly transform the entire country…..CONTINUE READING
In a statement shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, Olusegun highlighted the misconception that a sole messiah figure can revolutionize Nigeria, labeling it as unrealistic.
“We need to change our mentality on this ‘messiah’ orientation. The thought of ‘only one man can change the entire country’ is a facade and can’t work,” he asserted.
The call for a recalibration of expectations comes amidst ongoing debates about leadership and the role of individuals in steering Nigeria towards progress. Olusegun’s remarks underscore the importance of collective effort and systemic change in addressing the nation’s challenges.
In a related development, the discourse surrounding deportation practices sparked a heated exchange between Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, and Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election.
Onanuga criticized Obi’s condemnation of recent deportation incidents, alleging that Obi himself had engaged in similar practices during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State. He accused Obi of hypocrisy and shared evidence to support his claims.
The exchange sheds light on the complexities of governance and the need for transparency and accountability in policy implementation. It also underscores the importance of holding leaders accountable for their actions and ensuring consistency in principles and values.
As Nigeria navigates through socio-political challenges, the discourse sparked by Olusegun and Onanuga’s statements prompts reflection on the nation’s collective aspirations and the role of leadership in achieving them.
