Chemist Shop Operator, One Other Arrested Over Alleged Illegal Abortion Of 22-Year-Old In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged criminal conspiracy and the unlawful termination of a pregnancy involving a 22-year-old woman in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on September 19, 2026.

According to the police, one of the suspects, Aminu Jibrin, allegedly conspired with Salihu Moh’d, a 25-year-old chemist shop operator from Sabuwar Tiffi, to administer substances to a 22-year-old woman identified as Hauwa’u Yakubu.

The police said the substances allegedly induced and terminated Yakubu’s pregnancy.

The statement said the arrests followed credible information provided by a human rights activist in Ningi.

“On 18/09/2026 at about 1830hrs, based on credible information from a Human Rights activist in Ningi, one Aminu Jibrin, a male from Burra District criminally conspired with one Salihu Moh’d, 25 years old of Sabuwar Tiffi, a chemist shop operator, and unlawfully administered substances that induced and terminated a pregnancy of one Hauwa’u Yakubu, a 22-year-old resident of AAY Quarters, Ningi,” the police stated.

Following the report, operatives of the Ningi Police Division arrested Jibrin and Moh’d over the alleged offences.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.

The command also cautioned members of the public against jungle justice and self-help in resolving disputes, urging residents to remain law-abiding and provide security agencies with timely and credible information.

The suspects remain under investigation, while the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident are being further established.
