According to Ireporter Online, Archbishop Emmah Isong, a prominent cleric in Cross River State, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the inauguration of the Cross River State chapter of the Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative—a political support group aligned with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda—Isong urged citizens to back leaders who demonstrate integrity and a strong fear of God.

In his new role as chairman of the initiative’s 30-member committee, the cleric stated that the group is committed to mobilising grassroots support not only for President Tinubu, but also for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno, and Cross River Governor Bassey Otu. He highlighted the initiative’s mission to promote unity, good governance, and the emergence of morally grounded leaders.

“Leadership must be anchored on strong moral principles,” Isong said, warning that entrusting power to individuals lacking these values could be detrimental to the nation. He commended Governors Eno and Otu for their commitment to good governance, noting that the initiative would continue to support policies and leaders focused on citizens’ welfare.

The cleric also urged religious leaders nationwide to play an active role in nation-building by guiding their congregations toward responsible civic engagement. He emphasised the importance of voter mobilisation, particularly among Nigerians living abroad, encouraging them to return home and participate in the electoral process. Isong concluded by affirming that the committee will prioritise grassroots engagement and strategic mobilisation to ensure successful outcomes for their endorsed candidates in 2027.
