Court Orders Detention Of Man For Allegedly Raping Neighbor’s 10-Year-Old Daughter

Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, citing jurisdictional constraints, directed Abdullahi’s remand without taking his plea.

The court instructed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for guidance and set the case’s next hearing for June 26.

Abdullahi, a resident of Kinkinau Kaduna, stands charged with a single count of defilement. According to Prosecutor Insp Chidi Leo, the alleged incident occurred on May 3 at the defendant’s residence. Leo outlined that Abdullahi lured the girl into his room under the guise of assigning her an errand, then proceeded to sexually assault her.

The prosecution stated that the act violates Section 244 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017. (NAN)
