David Mark Sends Strong Warning To Governorship Candidates Over Violence
National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has cautioned the party’s governorship candidates against making unrealistic campaign promises that they have no intention of fulfilling.
According to Ireporter Online, Mark issued the warning on Monday while addressing the party’s governorship candidates during a consultation meeting ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The ADC chairman stressed that politicians must be careful with their campaign promises, noting that unfulfilled commitments could undermine public confidence and damage the credibility of the party among voters.
Mark also urged the candidates to conduct their campaigns responsibly by avoiding inflammatory rhetoric, hate speech and statements capable of creating ethnic or religious divisions.
He maintained that the ADC must distinguish itself through peaceful and issue-based politics, insisting that the party would not tolerate or be associated with violence in any form.
“We are ADC. Our campaign must reflect the kind of country that we would like to build. Avoid hate speech, ethnic or religious profiling. We cannot be associated with violence in whatever form,” Mark said.
He further directed the candidates to familiarise themselves with the party’s Governance and Ethical Principles contained in its ‘Orange Book’, as well as its manifesto, to ensure that their campaigns remain consistent with the party’s policies and objectives.
The governorship candidates, in their separate remarks, expressed appreciation to the party for providing them with the platform to contest the upcoming elections.
They also welcomed the party’s decision to make reducing the cost of living a major focus of its campaign, particularly through policies aimed at lowering fuel prices.
The candidates pledged their loyalty to the ADC and expressed confidence in their ability to secure victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.
