O!PAY BREAKS SILENCE ON SEPTEMBER 1 SHUTDOWN RUMOUR
Digital payment platform OPay has dismissed reports suggesting that it plans to shut down or suspend its services from September 1, 2026, assuring customers that its operations will continue without interruption.
According to Ireporter Online, the clarification followed the circulation of a viral message on social media claiming that OPay would temporarily halt its services and stop processing transactions and account-related requests.
The message reportedly urged customers to withdraw their funds ahead of the alleged shutdown, triggering concerns among users of the fintech platform.
However, OPay described the information as false and malicious, stressing that it had no plans to suspend its operations.
In a statement shared through its official social media platforms, the company reassured customers that it remained fully operational.
“OPay is not going on break by September. We’re here, and we’re going nowhere!” the company stated.
OPay urged customers to exercise caution when encountering financial information circulating on social media, particularly messages relating to their accounts, funds or access to its services.
The fintech company advised users to rely on its verified communication channels for accurate updates and announcements concerning its operations.
It also noted that the viral message contained several warning signs that indicated it was not an authentic communication from the company.
According to OPay, customers should carefully examine such messages and avoid taking action based on unverified claims that could cause unnecessary panic.
The company further appealed to the public to verify financial-related information before sharing it, stressing the importance of checking official sources for accurate updates.
OPay maintained that customers should follow its official pages for genuine information about the platform and its services.
