Deadly Ambush: NSCDC Team Kills 50 Boko Haram Militants, 7 Officers Still Missing

The attack took place around 3:40 p.m. when the convoy of the special monitoring team, which included nine officers and 71 personnel from various NSCDC units, was ambushed by over 200 armed Boko Haram elements at Farin-Kasa in Chukun Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

The Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, confirmed that seven NSCDC personnel are still missing following the ambush. Some of the team members sustained injuries and are receiving treatment in a medical facility.

The team had been providing security for national grid installations after recent power outages caused by attacks on such facilities. During their patrol, they encountered expatriates stranded in the bush, who joined the convoy for protection. The attackers, however, had set up a deadly ambush.

Despite the overwhelming firepower of the terrorists, the NSCDC operatives successfully repelled the assault, neutralizing over 50 of the Boko Haram militants.

The Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, condemned the attack, describing it as “callous” and reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to defending the nation’s critical infrastructure. He emphasized that the NSCDC would not be deterred by terrorist attacks and would continue to support the government’s efforts to stabilize the power sector and improve electricity supply across Nigeria.
