In a statement by Chief Press Secretary Fred Itua on Tuesday, the governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to prioritizing security. He described the recent cult-related violence as unacceptable and vowed to take decisive action to restore peace across Edo State.
“Our campaign placed security as a top priority. Cultism in Edo State will not be tolerated. Security agencies have been directed to collaborate and ensure the state is safe for residents while being inhospitable to criminals,” Governor Okpebholo said.
The governor also instructed law enforcement to “smoke out” criminal elements wherever they may hide and reassured residents that the government is doing everything possible to safeguard lives and property.
Edo State Police Commissioner, Umoru Peter Ozigi, confirmed that the inaugural security meeting addressed key areas of concern. He added that the governor has pledged full support to security agencies to ensure peace and safety.
