Intelligence sources have confirmed to Zagazola Makama that Turji and his armed group are targeting travelers and communities, causing widespread panic and disrupting movement in the area.

This escalation comes mere hours after influential Fulani leaders from Shinkafi, Moriki, and Zurmi made an urgent appeal to Turji to halt his violence and lift the blockade on the critical Shinkafi-Gusau road. During their meeting, the leaders urged him to stop the ongoing abductions and killings, particularly affecting the populations in Zamfara and neighboring Sokoto State.

However, Turji remained resolute and did not offer any assurances, rendering their intervention unsuccessful.

The attacks seem to be in retaliation for the recent capture of Bako Wurgi, one of Turji’s closest associates. Wurgi, also known as Baka NaGarba, played a pivotal role in negotiating ransoms and handling payments from kidnapping operations, making him a key figure in Turji’s criminal network.
