According to Dr. Otabor, the time gap between an accident and the treatment of victims significantly impacts their chances of survival. He emphasized that prompt handling of victims and the provision of emergency care play crucial roles in increasing the survival rate of accident victims.

During a visit to his office by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Isa Muta’a, Dr. Otabor, who serves as the Medical Director at Alliance Hospital, stressed the importance of treating accident victims without delay or the demand for payment upfront. He highlighted the significance of this approach in line with the goals of the decade of action against road traffic crashes.

Dr. Otabor underscored the need for proper training in basic life support and trauma life support for both medical personnel and road safety officers. He cautioned against improper handling of accident victims, which could lead to further injuries or fatalities.

Additionally, Dr. Otabor warned against distracted driving, emphasizing that even a momentary distraction could significantly increase the risk of a crash.
