Delta State Incident Three Suspects Apprehended, Transferred To Army Headquarters In Asaba

At least three individuals involved in the killing of 17 officers and men of the 181 Amphibious Battalion, Nigerian Army, Otuama, Delta State, last Thursday, have been apprehended.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State also met with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock to discuss the incident, assuring that the state is managing the tension and preventing further attacks.

Additionally, the House of Representatives mandated the Armed Forces of Nigeria to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the brutal killings of the soldiers.

The suspects were reportedly arrested in Port Harcourt and transferred to Army headquarters in Asaba for further interrogation.

During a debate in the Senate, Senator Akpabio emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine if the perpetrators were outsiders or mercenaries, as he doubted they were from the Niger Delta region.

The Senate has initiated its probe into the incident, directing its Defence, Army, Navy, and Air Force committees to collaborate with military authorities to gather more information on the motives behind the appalling act.
