The announcement was made by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who also served as the chairman of the APC primary election committee, in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.

Following a keenly contested primary election held on Saturday, Dennis Idahosa secured a total of 40,483 votes, defeating eight other aspirants vying for the APC ticket.

With the highest number of votes among the contenders, Idahosa is now positioned as the APC’s candidate for the gubernatorial race scheduled for September 21 in Edo State.

Governor Uzodimma clarified that there was a misunderstanding regarding the location of the committee’s secretariat, emphasizing that the Protea Hotel, and not the previously announced Lushville Hotel, served as the authentic secretariat for the election process.

Notably, several governorship aspirants, including Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and Chief Lucky Imasuen, had withdrawn from the primary election earlier, setting the stage for Idahosa’s emergence as the APC’s flagbearer for the Edo State governorship contest.
