According to Defence Headquarters, these centers will complement existing efforts within the military services to tackle cases of PTSD effectively. Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the necessity of these measures, particularly in light of recent incidents, including the tragic events in Sokoto.

The rise in incidents of soldiers taking their own lives, often attributed to PTSD, underscores the urgency of addressing mental health concerns within the military.
